Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has announced the launch of an investment fund under his auspices to support national culture, tourism and sports.
According to the Saudi SPA news agency, the fund's goal is to create a sustainable infrastructure that will increase the share of the tourism industry in the national GDP from 3% to 10% and ensure the influx of 100 million tourists to the country by 2030.
By attracting foreign investment, the Saudi authorities expect to build 35 unique tourist, cultural, entertainment and sports facilities in the country within two decades.
Participants discussed the boundary between nature and ecotourism, whether mass visits to unique areas can remain safe, the responsibilities of investors, and how to prepare tourists for visiting specially protected natural areas.
The head of state expressed confidence that the Forum will be held at a high level, and that its results will contribute to the development of tourism in Russia and the expansion of humanitarian and business ties.
