On the opening day for tourists of the Rzhev Memorial Complex on July 1 was visited by about 10 thousand people. According to its director, Marina Kopaeva, 3.5 thousand people have visited the place just before lunch, and their flow was increasing.
A unique interactive museum has been inaugurated on the territory of the memorial complex, which has become a branch of the Victory Museum, with which visitors can get acquainted with photographs, front-line letters, stories, and memoirs of the participants of the Battle of Rzhev. The glass floor through which you can see weapons, helmets, shells, shells, grenades and other attributes found by search expeditions is amazing.
A diorama, which was created under it, displays search work on the battlefield. With the help of modern multimedia and acoustic equipment, visitors are completely immersed in the atmosphere of the events of the Great Patriotic War in the Rzhev-Vyazemsky direction, you just need to click the button.
In addition, everyone can find information about the participants in the battles, their relatives, who fought in the Rzhev-Vyazemsky district. To date the database contains about 200 thousand records and is constantly updated with new data.
“It will take a little time, and the memorial will receive hundreds of thousands of tourists who will come here following good, repaired roads,” said The Minister of Culture, Olga Lyubimova during the grand opening of the memorial on June 30. “For future generations, it will become a familiar and integral part of the landscape, and now everything is new, especially for veterans - after all, many of them who fought on the Rzhev land remember a completely different landscape”.
The government of the Tver region plans to include a visit to the Rzhev Memorial as one of the recommended excursions for high school students. A regional tourist route “Land of Military Glory” has also been developed, providing for visits to military graves and memorial complexes of the Rzhevsk and Zubtsovsk districts of the Tver Region.
