Rwanda, which signed deals with European football clubs to promote local tourism, says it is not concerned by criticism that its heavy investments in tourism sponsorship deals is “too expensive for a poor country”.
The East African country inked a multimillion three-year sleeve sponsorship deal with Arsenal last year and recently with Paris Saint-Germain to attract millions of tourists from Europe.
French media claimed that the deal with Paris Saint-Germain would cost Rwanda between $8.8 million and $11 million.
Rwanda has been awarded for its leadership in sustainable tourism by the World Travel and Tourism Council.
