Rwanda has partnered with French soccer club Paris St Germain to promote tourism in the East African nation, following a similar deal with the English soccer club Arsenal last year.
Under the deal, first team players and legends will travel to Rwanda for experiences that will be shared with more than 70 million PSG fans across the globe.
Visit Rwanda branding will also be displayed at the Parc des Princes Stadium, on the sleeve of PSG women’s team, and on the back of training kits.
It was, however, not revealed how much Rwanda would pay for the agreement.
“We invest part of our tourism revenues in strategic collaborations such as the one with Paris St Germain because we understand the positive effect they have on the overall perception of the country globally,” said Rwanda Development Board chief executive Clare Akamanzi in a statement.
Rwanda is ranked as the second easiest place to do business in Africa according to the World Bank and has been awarded for its leadership in sustainable tourism by the World Travel and Tourism Council.
Close to two million visitors travelled to Rwanda for business and pleasure in 2018, discovering a clean, green country with welcoming people eager to share their unique culture.
The country is renowned for its incredible mountain gorilla trekking experience, tourists can also enjoy a variety of kayaking, cycling, hiking, bird watching and a ‘Big Five’ savannah safari.
Tourism earned Rwanda $380 million last year and is projected to rise to $405 million this year.
