Russia has increased territories of specially protected areas by 5 million hectares. This was announced to the media today by the head of the parliamentary Committee on Ecology Dmitry Kobylkin. Such a task was set by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2018, - he reminded.
"The work was not easy: to explore the territories, prepare documentation, discuss plans with the regions, coordinate with the interests of different departments.
I want to say a huge thank you to all those who worked on this task. For 4 years we have had new protected areas in Altai, Chelyabinsk, Komi, Dagestan, Crimea and other regions of Russia. It is here that our citizens go to rest and our task is to create all the conditions for this," - Kobylkin said.
