Russia and Thailand are working on a joint program of cooperation in the field of environmental protection, including the development of protected areas and ecotourism. Cooperation between the two countries in this area was discussed at a working meeting between Ivan Kushch, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Climate Change of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation, and Varaphanni Damrongmani, Minister of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Thailand in Russia.
"Ivan Kushch noted the interest of the Russian side in bilateral partnership in the fields of environmental safety, biodiversity conservation, development of a system of specially protected natural territories and ecological tourism in protected areas, exchange of experience in reducing water pollution. The parties paid special attention to the implementation of the principles of closed-loop economics in waste management. In particular, the phased reduction and decommissioning of difficult-to-process waste," the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia reported on its website.
According to the ministry, all these areas are included in the program of bilateral events for 2024-2025.
"The draft of the updated program was prepared by the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, now the document is under consideration by the Thai side," the message says.
