The international obstacle course race, Race Nation (OCR), took place on August 10-11 in Kazakhstan at the Oy-Karagay resort. The race, held for the seventh consecutive year, gathered around two thousand athletes. The Rosa Khutor resort team participated in these starts at the invitation of the Eurasian Alliance of Mountain Resorts (EAMR).
As Sergey Khvorostyany, Deputy General Director of the Rosa Khutor mountain resort for international relations and tourism, noted: "The activities of the EAMR are developing successfully, and our resort is taking the most active part in events under the auspices of the Alliance. The schedule of business meetings is already planned for a year in advance. For example, in the fall we will represent Russia at the Summit of Mountain Resort Leaders of the EAMR, within the framework of which an expert and investment forum "Interstate Tourist Route of the EAMR as a driver for the development of the Eurasian mountain tourism infrastructure" will be held. At the same time, we believe it is important to develop informal ties between the mountain resorts of Eurasia, so we gladly accepted the invitation of our colleagues from Kazakhstan and sent our team to these competitions in Oy-Karagay. Sometimes such contacts, tempered in pure sports competition, become a solid foundation for long-term cooperation."
The Rosa Khutor resort team performed well at various distances. Olesya Kozina, a fitness instructor at the Rosa Springs hotel, became the winner among women at the Open 3 distance. A fierce struggle unfolded in the team race, where among 60 teams, representatives of the Rosa Khutor resort took 12th place. In addition to participating in the sports program, they also held meetings with colleagues from the Oy-Karagay and Shymbulak mountain resorts - exchanged experience, discussed the specifics of working in the summer season.
"Our colleagues from Kazakhstan welcomed us very warmly. It is precisely for the development of friendly relations and professional communication that the Eurasian Alliance of Mountain Resorts was created. We are glad that with our performance at Race Nation (OCR) we have made a worthy contribution to strengthening our cooperation with colleagues from other countries, as such events truly unite. Participating in these competitions was a new and interesting experience for me. I am very grateful to Rosa Khutor and the EAMR for the opportunity to participate in this obstacle race!" said Olesya Kozina, one of the winners of Race Nation and a member of the Rosa Khutor mountain resort team.
For reference: In June 2023, the mountain resorts Rosa Khutor (Russia), Shymbulak (Kazakhstan), and Amirsoy (Uzbekistan) began joint work to create the Eurasian Alliance of Mountain Resorts (EAMR), which is designed to provide a platform for the strategic development of tourism in the Eurasian space, professional communication, promotion of best practices and brands of mountain resorts. In November of this year, the Shahdag mountain resort (Azerbaijan) joined the Alliance. The main goals of the alliance are to promote year-round mountain tourism and popularize an active lifestyle, exchange necessary information and best practices, improve the professional qualifications of mountain complex employees, and develop common approaches to safety standards. In March 2024, the first Eurasian Mountain Resorts Festival was held at the Rosa Khutor resort, during which it was announced that the Oy-Karagay mountain resort (Kazakhstan) had also joined the EAMG. The next Eurasian Mountain Resorts Festival will be held at the Shahdag resort (Azerbaijan) in March 2025.
