Overflowing dumpsters and trash in Utah's most popular national park are killing deer. This disturbing information was published on the official page of the Zion National Park.
According to the caretakers, the animals are so used to being around tourist waste that they can open refrigerators and garbage bags and eat their contents.
The situation with garbage collection is critical - employees of the park do not have time to clean up everything that irresponsible visitors leave behind. “This is an ongoing problem in Utah and across the country during the coronavirus pandemic as more people head out into the streets,” the Zion Park administration said in a statement. Tourists are urged not to put garbage in overfilled containers, feed wild animals and they should keep a reasonable distance from them for everyone's safety.
