A rare freshwater Siamese crocodile has been spotted in Kaeng Krachan National Park, Thailand. He was captured by a camera trap installed in the park.

An individual of this species extremely rarely goes out to the public. The camera traps in the national park of Thailand caught the species for the second time in a decade.

Once this species of crocodiles was common in Southeast Asia, but its number have declined sharply in this region due to the hunting and the destruction of their habitat. The Siamese crocodile is currently classified as “endangered” in the IUCN's Red Book.

According to the representatives of the national park, only about 20 individuals of the species remain in the wild.
