This will help attract Russian tourists. The nearest plans include the repair of three stations: in Gagra, New Athos and Kelasura. The authorities of the republic note that trains from Russia will be able to start running to the Kelasur station as early as May 2022. So far, a retro tourist train from Russia runs along the Tuapse-Sochi-Gagra route.

"We have already started cleaning the Kelasur station. We want to see what we can do with the involvement of specialists in historical and cultural heritage, because this building is of value. We want to see what we can do on our own, and then maybe we will ask for help in order to make cosmetic repairs at the first stage," said Arsou Chitanava, General Director of the Abkhaz Railways.

Cosmetic repairs of railway stations in Abkhazia are planned to be carried out before March 1.
