Bulgarian tourists have visited over 100 mountain huts and cabins to compare them based on equipment, comfort, and safety. Nearly 40,000 climbers and hiking enthusiasts participated in the campaign.

The three mountain ranges of the country – Pirin, Rila, and Rhodopes – have many hiking trails. They are equipped with special places for rest and overnight stays: huts and cabins. From May to September of this year, an online vote was held, and as a result, 36 best facilities in 16 categories were noted.

"Buzludzha" hut was recognized as the "Best hut with car access". The "Echo" hut in Stara Planina became the "Best hut without car access" this year. It also reaffirmed its status as the most environmentally friendly mountain hotel.

The award ceremony for the winners of the "Hut of the Year" campaign took place at the "House of Cinema" in the capital. The managers of the best huts and cabins received financial assistance totaling more than 65,000 Bulgarian leva (33,244 euros).
