In June, Kislovodsk plans to open a swimming season on the popular Old Lake. The second stage of landscaping of the territory adjacent to the reservoir is currently underway. This was announced on its website by the administration of the resort city.
"Workers have already finished laying a pedestrian ring road around the reservoir. It will be possible to descend from it to the sandy beaches, as well as to access several training grounds for beach sports. As part of the second stage of work, piers in the shape of hearts will appear along the coastline," the message says.
In addition, it is planned to lay wooden paths at the water's edge, and arrange children's pools. Earlier, the water from the lake was drained to begin a new stage of landscaping in the surrounding area.
"The work is planned to be completed in May, then we will fill the lake with water and in June we will open the second swimming season," the head of Kislovodsk, Yevgeny Moiseev, is quoted in the message.
As the city authorities noted earlier, the Old Lake in Kislovodsk is being landscaped for the first time in 70 years.
The Old Lake is an artificial reservoir created back in the 1950s. For a long time it was a very popular holiday destination in Kislovodsk and the hallmark of the resort, but by the end of the 20th century it had fallen into disrepair.
Several years ago, preparations for the improvement of the reservoir began. The first swimming season on the lake in many years was opened last year.
