Russia again ranked first among foreign markets in terms of the number of tourists visiting Turkey in the first four months of this year. According to the country's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, over 552 thousand Russians visited it in January-April - 75% more and 22% less than in 2020 and 2019, respectively.

In just the first four months, 2.7 million foreign tourists visited Turkey, which is 35% less than in the same period a year earlier. The share of the Russian market in foreign tourist traffic was 20%. Together with Russia, Iran, Ukraine, Germany and Bulgaria are in the top five countries in terms of the number of tourists arriving to Turkey.

In April, the total number of foreign tourists in the country decreased by 12% compared to March. This is due to the ban on flights to Turkey imposed by the Russian authorities, since Russia is the main supplier of foreign guests. In 2020, 2.1 million Russian citizens visited Turkey, in 2019 - more than 6 million.
