The company's press service reported that over the past four years, Norilsk Nickel has invested 1.3 billion rubles in the program to support the indigenous peoples of Taimyr. This program is designed for five years.
The goal of the program is to support traditional activities, protect the original habitat, and build houses, hospitals, roads and tourist centers in Taimyr. Representatives of indigenous peoples participated in the development of these social projects.
The report notes that the program is coordinated and advised by a regularly meeting coordination council of indigenous communities of Taimyr.
According to Vasily Zakharov, chief manager of Norilsk Nickel's regional programs department, the program is being implemented ahead of schedule in terms of the construction of residential and infrastructure facilities, as well as cultural events.
In addition, the company is involved in preparations for the hunting and fishing season. Norilsk Nickel has already transferred 300 million rubles for these purposes.
