The Yaroslavl region is working on the creation of a berthing infrastructure on the Volga and new opportunities for cruise travel.

This was announced on its website by the Department of Tourism of the region with reference to the first deputy chairman of the regional government Maxim Avdeev.
“Thus, the Vodokhod company is considering the possibility of organizing weekend cruises from Yaroslavl to Kostroma with a visit to Plyos and Tutaev on the ship Semyon Budyonny. Passengers will also have the opportunity to visit the scientific village of Borok, located on the site of the noble estate of the same name, the last owner of which was a populist revolutionary, chairman of the Russian Society of Lovers of the World, philosopher and scientist Nikolai Morozov.

This year ships will start arriving in the region in two weeks. Yaroslavl, Uglich and Myshkin will be the first to accept them.

“Cruise tourism is in high demand. In 2022, compared to the previous same period, the number of tourists visiting our region on cruise ships increased from 252 to 342 thousand people, that is, by 35%. We pay special attention to the development of this direction in the region,” Avdeev is quoted by the Department of Tourism.

As noted in the message, at present, cruise ships in the Yaroslavl region receive Yaroslavl, Rybinsk, Tutaev, Uglich, Myshkin and Koprino (Rybinsk municipal district).

Last year, ships entered the cities of the region more than 2.2 thousand times. “Uglich has traditionally become the leader in terms of the number of ship calls. The city was visited by almost 130 thousand guests on 724 ships. The second most popular was Myshkin, which received 568 motor ships and more than 80,000 guests.

Yaroslavl is in third place: 534 ships and almost 67,000 tourists,” the department said.
