12 bison were brought to the territory of the Berezichsky district forestry of the Ugra National Park, Kaluga region, from the protected areas of the central zone of Russia, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation.

The animals were transported in special separate transport cages. The transportation went on well.

The first were 6 individuals from the bison nursery of the Oka Biosphere Reserve (Ryazan region). A little later, another 6 animals arrived from the bison nursery of the Prioksko-Terrasny Biosphere Reserve (Moscow region).

Bison will spend a month in a spacious aviary and then be released into the wild.

The adaptation of the animals to the new location is going well.

The bison is one of the priority types of the federal project "Conservation of biological diversity and development of ecological tourism" of the national project "Ecology". Since 2014, the Ugra National Park has been participating in the program for the reintroduction of the species in Russia: over seven years, 40 animals have been imported into the territory. 12 more were added yesterday.
