This winter, the Moscow River will be full of river boats. The question is, what to do on a ship when the temperature is below zero? You won’t be able to go out on the deck in such weather. But the view from the river to the city is always unforgettable. Panoramic windows will allow to admire the festive illumination of the Russian capital during the New Year.
However, sightseeing is not the only thing it has to offer. Guests can take part in theater cruises, gastronomic trips and even special New Year’s cruises.
In winter, special ice-breaking boats will circulate along the city. They are able to move through ice up to 20 centimeters thick. During severe cold weather, when the river freezes deeper, icebreakers come first. In total, in the cold season, 10 such ships with a reinforced hull will navigate along the Moscow River.
During the cruises passengers will see the main attractions of the center of the capital: the Kremlin, St. Basil’s Cathedral, the Luzhniki Stadium, the main building of Moscow State University, Park "Zaryadye" and others.
Passengers will be able to use an audio guide available in six languages: Russian, English, Chinese, Spanish, French and German.
The previous season of passenger navigation along the Moscow River started on November 15, 2018 and lasted until April 24. During this period, the boats transported more than 200 thousand people. This year, winter river boats mark their 10th anniversary.
