The official website of the Moscow mayor reported that over the six months of 2023, more than 10.3 million tourists visited the capital. This is 22% more than a year earlier.

The bulk of the tourist flow was made up of almost 9.4 million Russian travelers. Most often, guests came to Moscow from St. Petersburg, the Krasnodar Territory, the Vladimir, Rostov and Tula regions. About a million more tourists came from China, India, Turkey, Iran and other countries.

The report notes that based on the results of the first six months, the capital's tourism industry showed growth in all main indicators. In addition, it brought 68 billion rubles to the city's budget system.

Moscow attracts tourists with a variety of needs. The city regularly hosts exhibitions, festivals and other events. In addition, business tourism is also developing. As a rule, businessmen spend one and a half to two times more than other guests on trips, and also stay in hotels of the four-star and five-star categories.
