The press service of the Mospriroda reported that in the second half of June and early July, most species of butterflies are already emerging from pupae. During this period, mass flights of these insects can be observed in natural areas. In July and August, the greatest species diversity of butterflies is expected.

Since the beginning of the year, the department's specialists have recorded about 15 species of butterflies in the natural areas of the capital. Among them are the Red Book ones: carterocephalus palemon and mourning, black-and-yellow polyflora, dawn, egeria's corner-eye and v-white polyflora. The presence of rare species in the city confirms that the ecosystem is in a good state.

Most different species of butterflies are found in the natural and historical parks "Bitsevsky Forest", "Tushinsky", "Kuzminki-Lublino", as well as in the natural complex No. 178 "Green area in the valley of the Setun River and its tributaries in Novo-Peredelkino and adjacent territories "and on the territory of the nature reserve" Valley of the Setun River.

"According to the results of annual surveys conducted by Mospriroda specialists, the species composition and abundance of wildlife, including butterflies, in specially protected natural areas is stable," the report says.

In total, about 200 species of day and night butterflies live in the capital.
