In Bosnia and Herzegovina, a locust invasion is causing a lot of inconvenience to residents of the city of Banja Luka. Small green grasshoppers are nothing new here. They usually appear in July and disappear in October. However, this summer, due to very dry and hot weather, the population of these insects in the Banja Luka area has reached enormous numbers. Residents complain that passage through the streets even during the day has become problematic due to the thousands of individuals located on roads and bridges.
And in the evening it’s a real disaster: swarms of locusts hover around the lamps, forming dense clouds that you literally have to wade through in the dark.
In addition, in the evening it is impossible to open doors and windows in houses - persistent locusts rush towards light sources, completely ignoring the owners of the property. Not only people suffer, but also livestock and pets.
Residents of Banja Luka and the surrounding area have no luck at all this year: at the beginning of summer they were tormented by hordes of mosquitoes, which even pollination with chemicals could not cope with. And closer to autumn, a new scourge - hordes of locusts.
