The press service of Norilsk Nickel announced the launch of a fisheries research program in the Norilo-Pyasino water system. Its subsidiary Norilsk-Taimyr Energy Company and the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography take part in it.
This year, scientists will cover Lake Pyasino, the Pyasino River and smaller water bodies, including Ambarnaya, Norilsk, Daldykan, Agapa, Dudypta and others. The purpose of the research is to monitor the state of aquatic biological resources and their habitat, as well as to develop scientifically based recommendations for the replenishment of biological resources.
The field stage of research will last until the end of September, after which experts will begin to study the collected data.
"The results of the Russian Federation Research Institute of Fishery and Oceanography(VNIRO) research will also be recommendations on the places and maximum possible volumes of release of juveniles of valuable fish species in the Norilsk region," the report says.
the research starting this year will be the first stage of large-scale multi-year work that will last until 2051.
Nornilsk Nickel systematically invests in scientific research at water bodies in the regions where it operates. The most large-scale research in the last three years was organized in Taimyr.
