The press service of the Land of the Leopard National Park said that specialists examined the health status of wild animals in order to prevent outbreaks of dangerous infectious diseases. Similar diseases that have arisen in one species can become a threat to the rare Amur leopard and the Amur tiger.

"A dangerous disease that has arisen in one species can affect other animals, such as tigers infected from prey. This can lead to the death of individuals and the loss of entire populations. During the study of outbreaks of serious diseases, no serious diseases have been identified," the press reported. -service.
Badgers, hedgehogs and a Far Eastern forest cat were examined. First, experts caught them with the help of containers with bait. Then the animals were weighed. Their body parameters were measured, smears were taken from the mucous membranes and blood samples, after which the animals were released into the forest. A blood test allows you to identify not only current diseases, but also a “medical history” for a lifetime.

"The collected samples undergo preliminary analysis and are prepared for shipment to the laboratory. The next stage of work will begin here, during which the material will be examined for the presence of markers of infectious diseases," the report says.
