5 years ago, on March 2, 2019, the opening of the XXIX World Winter Universiade (University Games) took place in Krasnoyarsk. These were the first winter Student Games in Russia.

"Today it is impossible to imagine the capital of the region without the legacy of the Universiade. Its facilities were built in just a few years and changed the face of the city. This experience is certainly applicable in the preparation of Krasnoyarsk for the 400th anniversary," Mikhail Kotyukov, Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, said in his Telegram channel.

"Athletes from 58 countries have joined us. They lived in the Universiade Village, which is located in SFU. In order to meet all international requirements, tremendous work has been done at the university, modern dormitories and academic buildings have been built. Thanks to the Universiade, the SFU campus has become the best in the country," recalls the head of the region.

The Bobrovy Log Fanpark hosted alpine skiing competitions. 9 sets of medals were awarded in 5 disciplines. The teams of 40 participating countries performed on the slopes of the Fanpark. Russia won 9 medals.

Norilsk Nickel was the general partner of the Winter Universiade 2019.
