The Kamchatka Territory will become a pilot region to increase the flow of tourists in specially protected natural areas (SPNA) so that this practice can be extended throughout the country, as stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, who payed a working visit to tourist places in Kamchatka.
Together with the governor of the region Vladimir Solodov, profile ministers, ecologists, scientists, investors he visited the Valley of Geysers and other protected areas, outlining plans for the near future.
“Today we outlined the priority steps to expand the infrastructure of the Valley of Geysers - walking paths and platforms. We will implement them this year using the tools of the national tourism project - the region is preparing an application. This will give us an increase in tourist traffic. Synchronization of reception of client groups is important. The staff of the reserve will work on this issue,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko. According to him, the cost of a tour to the Valley of Geysers due to optimization can be reduced by three times.
“The Valley of Geysers, world famous for its powerful hot springs and unique wildlife can accomodate about 5.5 thousand people during the tourist season, and the existing demand is many times greater. Now the regional leadership, together with the scientists of the Kronotsky Reserve, faces the main task - to work out all the existing possibilities to make the Valley of Geysers more accessible, taking into account its status as a specially protected natural area,” added Vladimir Solodov.
