The initial five days of the Nagaland Hornbill Festival, an annual tourism extravaganza organised by Nagaland government, have drawn over 78,000 attendees, including 1,621 international visitors this year, as per official numbers. The festival, spanning 10 days, started on December 1. It is organised every year in the beautiful Naga heritage village of Kisama.
As per data released by the Tourism DepartmentIn, 1,621 foreign participants, 20,659 domestic tourists, and 56,115 locals saw the cultural displays presented by the 18 Naga tribes up to Tuesday.
But the peak was noted on the third day, Sunday, with 18,002 individuals partaking in the festivities. This consisted of 12,578 locals, 5,001 domestic tourists, and 423 foreigners
Many attendees at the Hornbill Festival, also known as the Festival of Festivals by the state government, have expressed delight in witnessing the events. Numerous visitors have also put forth constructive suggestions.
For those who don’t know, the Hornbill Festival dates back to the early 21st century, with its inaugural edition taking place in the year 2000. The Government of Nagaland, recognised the need to showcase and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Naga tribes, came up with this festival.
