Hunting tourism center set up in Serbia

A hunting tourism center is being built in the small Serbian town of Sremska Mitrovica. This place is located next to the Fruska Gora National Park - a unique natural site famous for its landscapes, as well as historical sites from Roman times to the Middle Ages. Vineyards have been planted on the slopes of Fruška Gora since ancient times. The famous dry wines Traminer and Riesling, as well as dessert Bermet, were served at the tables of emperors. They were also present in the wine list of the Titanic.

Today, next to Fruška Gora, the recreation industry is dynamically developing with a focus on rural, ecological and sports tourism. Recently, the construction of a hunting center began here. At first glance, this does not seem very compatible with environmental trends. However, the administration of the city of Sremska Mitrovica, as well as the Ministry of Tourism and Youth of Serbia, think otherwise. According to officials, hunting societies are needed to preserve biodiversity: it is licensed hunting that should help in the fight against poachers who illegally destroy rare species of Red Book animals.

The needs of vacationers are also taken care of here, because the construction of the center will also contribute to the development of other types of relaxation: ecotourism and adventure tourism, which, according to the statement of the city of Sremska Mitrovica, are part of rural tourism. For these purposes, an agreement was signed between the city of Sremska Mitrovica and the Ministry of Tourism and Youth of Serbia on co-financing the project for the construction of a hunting tourism center. According to the plan, funds in the amount of 10 million dinars, approved by the Ministry, are intended to carry out the work of the final part of the project. The first phase of construction is in full swing: accommodation and congresses of hunters, a visitor center and a trophy room are being erected here.

After the commissioning of all the facilities of the center, the city administration expects significant revenues to the community treasury, because hunting tourism involves an increase in fees not only from various tourist services, but also from the rental of equipment and weapons, and, of course, from hunting fees.
