Hong Kong’s famed exhibition centre, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), hosted about 20 exhibitions in the second quarter of the year, completely safely marking a revival of physical exhibitions. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) in turn, supported by offering a free venue rental till June 30, 2022.
Hong Kong is slowly finding its niche in fairs and exhibitions back on track. Between April and June, Hong Kong has seen the return of a series of exhibitions. As per Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) had hosted 20 physical exhibitions inviting about a million visitors during this period.
The tourism agency considers the positive response for these physical events as an indication of the importance and the value people bestow to physical events over virtual exhibitions and encouragement to resume large-scale business events safely and seamlessly and pave the way for further recovery including international conventions and trade fairs.
Kenneth Wong, General Manager, MICE & Cruise of the Hong Kong Tourism Board said: "We are delighted to see such a strong pick-up in demand for physical fairs. These events are a good demonstration of Hong Kong's readiness to welcome business events of any scale, and an encouraging sign for the exhibition industry that the physical show is invaluable, and we are very much looking forward to a resumption of more trade fairs in the coming months,”
HKSAR government is also supporting the revival of the MICE tourism into the city by offering free venue rental support to organisers of B2B trade shows. The city will be hosting a number of shows in the third quarter of the year.
Since April 25, tourists arriving in the city of Doge are required to present an "entrance ticket" in the form of a QR code at the points of entry, which can be purchased online at a single price of 5 euros
