Registration for the mass ascent "Movement Up" started on March 29 in Yamal. Participants will be able to overcome the eight-kilometer route and climb to a height of 868 meters along the Rai-Iz mountain range on April 8. This was reported by the portal of the government of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YaNAO).
As expected, 250 travelers and trekking enthusiasts from all over Russia will take part in the traditional mass ascent. Tourists will be delivered from Salekhard, the capital of the YaNAO, to the foot of the mountain and back on specialized vehicles.
“On the way, they will enjoy the panorama of the Polar Urals, make a stop at wooden idols on the banks of the Sob River,” the message says.
As noted in the YaNAO government, climbing Rai-Iz is very popular among tourists due to the smooth transitions of the massif. This makes such a hike an easy trekking that does not require special training. Tourists over 18 years of age who have no medical contraindications are allowed to climb. Participation of children over 14 years old is possible only with an accompanying person. It is necessary to have personal equipment, wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
“The safety of the ascent will be ensured by experienced guides, doctors and employees of Yamalspas. At the start, tourists will be instructed and warmed up,” the district government said.
The mass ascent "Movement Up" has been held since 2018 and gathers outdoor enthusiasts from all over the country. Last year, 200 people conquered the top of Rai-Iz.
