Greece continues to deal with the consequences of natural disasters that hit the country last month. Two powerful cyclones “Daniel” and “Elias” claimed the lives of dozens of people, destroyed crops and the entire harvest of wheat. Tens of thousands of domestic and wild animals died.
The amount of precipitation brought by the storms was several times higher than annual norms, updating the sad records of climate disasters. The increasing number of cases of natural anomalies is causing concern among climate specialists. The press discusses apocalyptic forecasts related to global warming.
But the local population does not despair: Greek residents are sending humanitarian aid to the affected regions and organizing teams of volunteers to clear agricultural land. After all, 25% of the country's food was produced in the flooded region.
Of course, the Greek Government came to the aid of the victims, providing compensation to farmers and reducing taxes on agricultural equipment. However, the scale of the losses is so great that it will take about 3 billion euros to eliminate the catastrophic consequences of the hurricanes.
Charitable societies began collecting financial assistance. Recently, 84 tons of feed were purchased and donated to farms in central Greece using funds from the All Together We Can organization. This ensured a well-fed life for 20,000 farm animals. Help arrived just in time. Fundraising continues.
