With the beginning of the tourist season in Greece, cases of unfair customer service at gas stations have become more frequent. The most harmless violation is cheating in calculating the amount of fuel sold. It comes to the point that craftsmen pour more fuel into the car than the volume of the gas tank allows. When checking the receipt, it is recommended to make a claim to the owners of the gas station.
But poor-quality fuel has become an even bigger problem. The Greeks manage to dilute gasoline with additives that disable the car engine. This has already become so common that the country's financial authorities have issued an official warning to motorists asking them to keep the checks until they have used up all the gasoline. In case of damage to the car due to dilute fuel, the repair of the car must be paid by the culprit of the breakdown.
The only document required for this is a receipt from a gas station. Lawyers confirm that the receipt from the gas station is enough to bring fraudsters to justice. The first cases have already been won. But the Greek regulatory authorities have begun daily quality checks of the fuel sold. Based on the investigations, there are already the first arrests. In addition to financial costs, fraudsters are waiting for the revocation of licenses for the sale of gasoline.
