The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) recently launched the Monsoon Trekking programme to boost tourism in hinterland areas. This move will help boost the economy of the region and will further help to generate employment for locals.
As per the reports, more than eight million tourists visit Goa every year, and most of them prefer to visit the beaches to enjoy sun, sand, and the sea during their vacation.
However, now the Goa Government is also focusing on hinterland tourism where there are several things one can’t find or see on the beaches. In hinterland areas, one gets 100 per cent fresh air free of cost. While care has been taken for safe trekking, the concept of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ would be made meaningful in the coastal state, and that the Monsoon Trekking programme will be extended in other areas as well. The tourist guides will be trained by the GTDC and the Forest Department, and only certified guides will be permitted to accompany tourists.
