"On the slopes of the highest mountain in Europe, the races of the stage of the international Freeride World Tour Qualifier competition — the main off-piste skating event in the world - have started," the message says.
The races are held from March 20 to 24 at once in two stages of difficulty – 2 * and 3*.
"Not only professional freeriders and crowds of fans gather at our resort, but every year the number of those who only want to try "free skating" on untouched slopes is growing," the words of the Elbrus lifeguard, guide and freeride coach Alexey Vodolazkin are quoted in the message.
At the end of March, the resort will also host the Russian Championship and the Russian Cup competitions in alpine skiing. Athletes will perform on high-altitude tracks from March 29 to April 1.
"The season will continue with the traditional training camps of the national and regional teams of the country in alpine skiing, snowboarding, freestyle. About two thousand people will be preparing on the glaciers of Elbrus from April to August," Kavkaz.RF told.
In the future, they want to create a special infrastructure for federal and regional alpine skiing, freestyle skiing and snowboarding teams at Elbrus that meets modern standards of sports training.
