The Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority has released a document outlining new rules for entering the country.

Tourists must have a certificate with a negative PCR test for COVID-19, the test must be done no later than 72 hours before the direct flight departure, or it will be carried out immediately after arrival for $ 30. For COVID-19-positive guests the hotels will introduce quarantine and put them in separate rooms, covering the costs of accommodation, meals, soft drinks until their departure.

According to Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Tourism Affairs Ghada Shalaby, this year the country expects to receive 60% of the tourist flow in comparison with 2019, or about 8 million people.

First of all, the recovery of the market should take place due to the return of Russian tourists. “I imagine we can surpass a million Russian tourists during 2021,” she was quoted as saying by Egypt Independent.

The presidents of the Russian Federation and Egypt, Vladimir Putin and Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, agreed to resume flights to the Red Sea resorts at the end of April.

The Rossiya aviation corporation has already begun preparing several Boeing aircraft for possible flights to Hurghada, as well as to Sharm el-Sheikh. The first flight is due June 1, 2021.
