Educational eco-marathon takes place in the natural areas of Moscow

Participants get acquainted with interesting facts about the life of bears, about the flora and fauna of the protected areas of the capital, understand the issues of climate change and human impact on nature.

Mospriroda holds an eco-marathon of thematic events dedicated to the World Day for Environmental Education, which is celebrated annually on January 26. The “Week of Ecological Knowledge” started on January 27 and will last until February 2 in eco-centers and natural areas of the capital.

“It will be possible to take part in tests, quizzes, dictations, quizzes and other events both online and offline. In total, it is planned to hold about 30 environmental education events,” Mospriroda said on its website.

So, for example, the participants of the eco-marathon will learn many interesting facts about the life of bears, about the species diversity of birds, animals and plants in the natural areas of Moscow. Guests will get acquainted with the system of separate waste collection and understand the issues of climate change and human impact on nature.

As noted in Mospriroda, the issue of the need for environmental education in the modern world is very acute.

“Efforts to preserve and restore the environment will not give positive results if we do not form an ecological culture and a culture of responsible consumption. This is a guarantee of the harmonious coexistence of human society and the environment,” the message says.

Mospriroda annually holds about 14 thousand environmental education events, which are attended by more than half a million people.

“Thanks to the introduction of new approaches, the qualitative study of topics and the format of events, there are more and more environmentally responsible residents of Moscow,” said Vera Strukova, deputy head of Mospriroda, whose words are quoted in the message.
