These events will take place on September 17 on the border of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region as part of the large-scale Water of Russia campaign.
The volunteer action on the shore of the bay will be held in the format of a large ecology festival with an extensive cultural and educational program and an entertainment part, the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources reported on its website.
“But the focus will, of course, be cleaning the shore from debris. All necessary equipment for this will be distributed on the spot. Before the start of the cleanup, guests and volunteers will have a lecture on separate waste collection and responsible attitude to waste, and a regular participant in the action, actor Stas Yarushin, will start the action,” the department noted. After cleaning, entertainment and refreshments, workshops on eco-themes, a music program, as well as a lottery are provided for the participants. Particularly distinguished activists will be awarded with diplomas and gifts.
The All-Russian campaign for cleaning the banks of water bodies from debris "Water of Russia" ("Coast of Good Deeds") is being held by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia for the ninth year. Every year the action expands its geography and today is the largest volunteer environmental project in the country, uniting more than 7 million people. Volunteers cleaned up thousands of ponds and collected tons of garbage.
