According to meteorologists at the Rosa Khutor resort, a decrease in temperature is expected in the Sochi mountains from October 17 to 20, along with significant precipitation on certain days.
The mountain resort's press service reported that on the night of October 17, rain turned into sleet at high altitudes. As a result, a snow cover of up to 5 cm formed at an altitude of 2230 meters above sea level on the Rosa Peak observation deck. It is expected that by the end of the day, the snow depth will reach 10-20 cm.
Starting from October 18, the air temperature will continue to decrease, and the freezing level will be felt at an altitude of 1700 meters. Over the course of the four days, the snowfall accumulation at altitudes from 1700 to 2200 meters above sea level will reach 40-50 cm. More detailed information about the amount of precipitation and its distribution zones can be found in the daily forecast. Guests will be informed about changes in weather conditions, lift operating hours, mountain routes, and attractions through the resort's information center and social media.
This year, the first snow in the Sochi mountains was observed on September 21 at an altitude of 2500 meters above sea level. In 2023, the first snow fell on October 7, and the ski season at Rosa Khutor began almost a week earlier than planned - on December 8.
