The harvest of mandarins in Abkhazia has begun earlier than usual.

Approximately 25 tons of mandarins have already been exported to Russia. In October 2023, these figures were much lower, with only 150 kilograms of fruits transported across the Russian-Abkhaz border.

"So far, only small fruits have ripened. We hope that the recent rains will help the trees recover. They were severely affected by the prolonged drought. Now the crop is growing larger, but it needs moisture for this," said Rafiq Grigoryan, Deputy Head of the Gulripsh District Administration of Abkhazia.

In 2023/2024, the export of mandarins from Abkhazia to Russia decreased by 18%. The total volume of supplies was about 25 thousand tons of fruits.
