The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)’s capital, Kinshasa is set to host a World Tourism Forum next year.

“It will be a great opportunity especially that 2020 is an exceptional year for the country that will celebrate its 60 years of existence,” said World Tourism Forum president, Bulut Bagci when he met with President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo.

He said the forum will put the DRC on the ‘international scene and boost’ tourism.

This year’s World Tourism Forum was convened in Angola last May to promote investment and boost the tourism sector in the country.

The DRC had been experiencing a series of conflicts, which had a serious impact on tourism and economic growth.

The new government is making efforts to get rid of foreign military groups that have been at the centre of the violence in the country, especially the Eastern parts.

launched several sector reforms to boost governance in the management of natural resources and improve the business climate.
