The Finnish government, hoping to revive tourism in Lapland, has allowed European tourists a limited stay in the country.

Travelers from Germany, Sweden and other European countries where the number of new COVID-19 cases in the past two weeks has not exceeded 25 per day are allowed to stay in Lapland for no more than three days.

Tourists from other European countries, such as France or the United Kingdom, where the COVID-19 incidence rate is still a concern, will be able to stay in Lapland for no more than 72 hours, provided that they come as part of a tourist group.

So far, in order to combat the coronavirus, Finland has banned tourists from Europe, with the exception of the few countries least affected by COVID-19.

In Finland, with a population of 5.5 million people, 8,000 cases of coronavirus and 337 deaths were registered.
