Its construction was approved by the Government of the country as part of the strategy for the socio-economic development of the North Caucasus until 2030.
“An important direction in the development of the district will be the creation of transport infrastructure. The main project of the strategy in this area is the construction of a highway connecting the North Caucasian resorts with the Black Sea tourist centers,” the press service of the Government of the Russian Federation reports.
Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed to work out options for possible routes. According to the 2016 project, the road runs through the territory of three regions: Kuban, Stavropol and Karachay-Cherkessia. It was also necessary to determine the cost and sources of financing for the project. In August 2021, the road project was estimated at 91-97 billion rubles.
