Botswana has maintained its grip in the number one spot as Africa’s best safari country with Tanzania a close second, according to SafariBookings, Africa’s largest online market place for safari holidays.
“It’s an understandable result given the unforgettable wildlife-viewing in Botswana, a country that epitomises luxury in the bush and exclusive safari experiences,” it said.
“The Okavango Delta is an iconic name as is the Kalahari Desert – these are big drawcards for visitors and both certainly live upto their safari-legend status.
“A status enhanced by this year’s big win as the continent’s leading safari country.”
SafariBookings said Botswana was also rated as the best country overall for wildlife, bird-watching and for its bush vibe.
Tanzania used to be the leading country until last year when it was narrowly defeated by Botswana.
The East African country was the winner in 2013 when SafariBookings conducted its first study to determine the best safari country in Africa.
It also emerged top when in its second study in 2017.
Zambia was ranked third followed by Zimbabwe.
Other countries that were rated include Kenya, South Africa, Namibia, Uganda, Rwanda, Swaziland, Mozambique and Malawi which came in that order.
