The Festival of Folk Crafts “The Feast of the Ax” will be held on August 15-20 in the Okolitsa rural park, 17 kilometers from Tomsk.
“Representatives of rare professions demonstrate their skills here: wood carvers, stove-setters, blacksmiths, potters, ceramists and many others,” the National Projects information resource says.
As a result, many of the works of the festival participants remain in the park - these are wooden sculptures, houses, and gazebos. The Ax Festival has been held for 10 years, during which the Okolitsa park has turned into an open-air museum.
“The festival has an international status - masters from different regions of Russia and neighboring countries come here. The multicultural nature of the event is evidenced by various thematic zones of the Outskirts: here you will see a Tatar courtyard, Uzbek and Chinese courtyards, a tent with a Russian stove, and much more,” the resource notes.
Participants compete in the nominations "Park Sculpture", "Wood Carvers" and "Teamwork". The holiday is held in order to preserve the unique national traditions of woodworking and convey them to the general public.
Guests watch the competitions of masters, ride bicycles and horses, visit a mini-farm and an extreme rope park on the territory of Okolitsa. Traditionally, musicians perform at the festival, fairs of folk crafts and products of local manufacturers are held.
