In the village of Krasny Profintern, Nekrasovsky district, Yaroslavl region, the Ponizovkin art festival will be held for the first time on September 24. The venue for the holiday will be the territory of the ancient castle of the merchant Ponizovkin, where a tourist complex is currently being developed.
The program includes music, video art, lectures, theater, as well as activities for children. The Ministry of Tourism of the Yaroslavl Region reported this on its website.
“Musicians experimenting with genres and sounds in their work will perform on the open stage of the art festival. The headliners will be the leader of the Russian music scene, the indie band “Therr Maitz”, the experimental folk group “Hodila izba” (Moscow), the multi-genre pop project “Secret Atelier” (Moscow), as well as a cover band created by the actors of the Volkovsky Theater in Yaroslavl , “Wolf Band” and DJ Mindo (DJ set). Admission to the festival is free,” the message says.
To attend events inside the castle, you must purchase tickets. There will be a concert of electronic music, the play “Cyber-Pushkin, a digital opera about Tsar Saltan”, lectures by speakers of the “Enlightener” Prize, chemical and electrical shows and art master classes.
There will be a food court outside for visitors.
“The organizers also plan balloon ascents, which will allow you to appreciate the view of the castle and the park from a bird’s eye view,” the ministry said.
They recalled that in 2022, the Federal Tourism Agency approved the issuance of a preferential loan of 2.7 billion rubles for the reconstruction and development of the Ponizovkin Castle tourist complex. The project is being implemented within the framework of an agreement signed at SPIEF 2022 by the regional governor Mikhail Evraev and the investor of the Ponizovkin Castle Park Hotel LLC Tigran Kazaryan.
“As a result, we will receive a modern tourist complex, which will make holidays in the Yaroslavl region more convenient, comfortable and longer,” noted Deputy Minister of Tourism of the region Maxim Tsvetkov, whose words are quoted on the website.
The mansion of merchant Ponizovkin was built more than a hundred years ago on the territory of his starch and syrup factory, which was founded around 1862. After the 1917 revolution, the plant and mansion went to the state, while the Ponizovkin family emigrated. The castle hosted party meetings, various clubs and a school. Since 1985, the facility has been abandoned and, as a result, has fallen into disrepair. In 2010-2014, the new owners restored the facades of the mansion to create a tourist complex.
The current development project involves a major reconstruction and restoration of buildings, structures and factory areas of the former starch and syrup plant with the aim of creating a large modern tourist complex of federal significance. At the same time, Ponizovkin Castle itself will become a multifunctional center with conference, concert and dining halls, and hotels will be located in the buildings of the plant management, the House of Engineers and shopping arcades. The project also includes the construction of new facilities, including a spa center with a swimming pool and a restaurant, and landscaping of the area with park landscaping.
