The concept of the Armkhi resort by the Kavkaz.RF company and the Institute of the General Plan of Moscow includes the construction of a gondola-chairlift, new ski slopes with a length of 10.2 km and the creation of an artificial snowmaking system.

“Several hotels, an extreme park, as well as other tourism and hospitality facilities built by private investors may appear at the resort,” Kavkaz.RF reported on its website.

This was discussed at a meeting chaired by Deputy Minister of Economic Development Sergey Nazarov as part of a working trip to the North Caucasus Federal District, the company noted.

“Armkhi already today plays an important role in the development of tourism in the Republic of Ingushetia, forming a separate point of attraction for tourists to the region. Moreover, it is important that the tourist flow is already year-round. At the same time, we see a number of constraining factors - the status of the border zone, the lack of the necessary engineering and transport infrastructure, as well as relevant activities for different target audiences," Nazarov said after the meeting, quoted by Kavkaz.RF.

According to him, the resort needs to be comprehensively dealt with.

The development concept of "Armkhi" provides for the planning of skiing, commercial, engineering and transport infrastructures. In addition to new ski slopes, modern ski lifts will appear in the resort.

Thematic zones with different types of sports entertainment will be created in the extreme park.

“The project involves the placement of sports facilities, tourist services, as well as the placement of a tent camp in the mountains and a tourist base,” the report says.

According to the head of the government of Ingushetia Vladimir Slastenin, "Armkhi" can be attractive not only for lovers of outdoor activities and sports. The resort has the potential for the development of historical tourism, being located among the mountainous landscape, close to medieval tower complexes and ancient temples.

“In 2023, it is planned to sign a protocol of intent, develop a master plan for the project, sign an agreement on extra-budgetary investments and begin design work. We plan to complete all work on the construction of the project in 2027,” Slastenin said, quoted by Kavkaz.RF.

Sanatorium "Armkhi" was opened in 1928. The special economic zone "Armkhi" was created and included in the tourism cluster of the North Caucasus Federal District in 2011. At the moment, the resort includes a ski infrastructure, including slopes with a total length of 1.2 km, double chair lifts at 650 meters and a drag lift at 180 meters. The resort has 350 accommodations.
