The Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov invites scientists, graduate students and students from all over the world to take part in the marine research and educational expedition to the Arctic. As EcoTourism Expert became aware, in 2020 it will be held from July 17 to August 3.

During 18 days of the journey the participants will pass the route from Arkhangelsk to Cape Zhelaniya (Novaya Zemlya), then to Graham Bell Island (Franz Josef Land - ZFI), then Heiss Island (ZFI), Hooker Island (ZFI), Northbrook Island (ZFI) and return to Arkhangelsk. The route of the expedition is subject to change under climatic conditions and ice conditions.

The project is called the Arctic Floating University. This is an annual scientific and educational marine expedition uniting youth and scientists. For researchers, this is an opportunity to conduct research in the high-latitude Arctic. And for students, this is a unique educational program that includes an interdisciplinary course of lectures and practical classes conducted by experienced researchers.

The research program includes the study of the hydrological regime and transit transport of pollutants to the seas of the Arctic Ocean, environmental monitoring in areas of active economic activity in the marine and coastal zones of the White and Barents Seas, the study of biodiversity of Arctic ecosystems, monitoring of the ice situation, assessment of the accumulated environmental damage and the degree of pollution of territories in areas of former economic activity, the study of adaptation of the human organism to the conditions of the High Arctic, including shift work.

An application for participation should be submitted before January 15, 2020 by filling out an online form posted on the expedition's official page
