In 2022, about three thousand “spontaneous” and “corporate” volunteers joined educational and environmental events and actions within the framework of the Friends of Mospriroda project, of which about 600 volunteers became permanent participants.
“Volunteers cleared natural areas of waste, made feeders and artificial nests, counted birds and animals, stored food for animals for the winter and did a lot of useful, necessary and at the same time exciting good deeds,” said Vera Strukova, Deputy Head of Mospriroda State Budgetary Institution.
Volunteers participated in the development of scenarios, visual materials, presentations, public discussions and eco-events. “Schoolchildren actively participated in the winter feeding of birds, the manufacture of artificial nests, feeders, wildlife censuses, community work days and eco-projects. Students and adults supported environmental campaigns, such as "Water of Russia", "Clean Coast", "Feed the Birds". In ecocenters, volunteers helped organize environmental education events and the work of waste collection points,” the Mospriroda said.
In particular, in 2022, the coasts and the adjacent water area of more than 20 km of reservoirs were cleaned, more than 300 counts of flora and fauna have been carried out, and more than 300 feeders and artificial nests for birds and squirrels have been placed in natural areas.
