In the Far Eastern Marine Reserve in the south of Primorsky Krai, the message of the participants of the circumnavigation was brought by waves. The "bottle mail", thrown into the sea near Sakhalin, was picked up by state inspectors at the False Island Cape. On its way, the document overcame more than a thousand kilometers at the will of winds and currents. This was reported by the Tourist portal of Primorsky Krai.
"The Russian vessel "Pilgrim" went on a round–the-world trip six years ago - in August 2017. A copy of the 18th century Pomeranian boat has already covered more than 18.5 thousand nautical miles, Captain Sergei Sinelnik and his crew have visited 15 countries. And at the end of August, the Pilgrim docked in Vladivostok for a few days. However, the ambitious "circumnavigation" has left its mark in the Far Eastern Marine Reserve," the report says.
The crew of the "Pilgrim" sealed the message in a bottle, and, thrown overboard near Sakhalin, it reached the ground in the southern section of the reserve.
"The message signed by the captain contains basic information about the expedition and wishes the finder a fair wind. It is symbolic that the letter was received by the state inspectors of the reserve, who go to sea every day to fight poachers," the portal notes.
Meanwhile, the "Pilgrim" continues its voyage along a pre-selected route, bypassing the protected waters.
According to the portal, the Far Eastern Marine Reserve was established in 1978, and since then it has preserved in its original form natural complexes that are distinguished by an unprecedented variety of species for the Russian seas. "Far Eastern trepang, giant octopus, Kamchatka crab and other invertebrate species find protection from poachers here. Since 2021, the management of the reserve is carried out by the Directorate of reserves "Land of the Leopard", - the message says.
