The funds are budgeted for the treatment of plants from pests. This procedure is carried out at the resort six times a year and combines intra-stem impregnation with crown spraying.

– Together with scientists of the Subtropical Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a method of combating invasive pests – palm moth and palm weevil was developed and experimentally tested. Processing is regularly carried out by the administrations of inner-city districts within the framework of concluded municipal contracts. In 2023, more than 20 million rubles have been allocated for these purposes in the city budget," said Rostislav Goncharov, Director of the Department for Environmental Protection, Forestry, Agriculture and Industry of the Sochi City Administration.

The inventory of palm trees that were damaged by insects and died has been completed in the city. Most of the dry specimens have been removed and disposed of. In municipal territories, they have been replaced with new seedlings within the framework of the compensatory gardening program. Last year alone, about 700 young palm trees were planted on the streets of Sochi. Next year, within the framework of the municipal program "Environmental Protection", it is planned to conduct a large-scale inventory of all green spaces and green areas of the resort.
