The press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Nature Management of the Moscow region reported that 13 rare and protected species of fauna were identified in the Zvenigorod Biostation of Moscow State University and the Sima Quarry in Odintsovo.
Among them are the armed nomad bee and giant dragonflies - the emperor sentinel and the reed yoke. In addition, scientists have recorded a green toad and a small bird meadow horse.
Valuable biotopes are under special protection in the reserve, including the Volkovskoye riding swamp with the Sima quarry. In this area there are several species listed in the Red Book of Russia: peregrine falcon and medium spotted woodpecker.
It is also home to several species of rare bats, lynx, river otter, hazel dormouse and other animals.
For many years, scientists and students of the MSU biofactory have been conducting scientific work on the territory of the reserve. In the field hospital, measures are constantly being taken to preserve and increase biological diversity.
