The expedition of the Russian Geographical Society "Arctic. General cleaning" has ended in the settlement of Khatanga in the north of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Over 90 activists collected 547 tons of man-made garbage from 40 km of coastline.

"All the tasks have been achieved. In general, during the two years of the expedition, we managed to collect more than 700 tons of garbage. But it is also important that within the framework of the expedition, a new powerful RGS project was also implemented - the volunteer movement "Volunteer of the Arctic" was launched, from among the participants of which environmental teams will be quickly formed to organize work throughout the Arctic zone of Russia," said Igor Spiridenko, head of the expedition, chairman of the Krasnoyarsk Regional branch of the RGS.

This year volunteers in Khatanga from 23 regions of Russia in addition to cleaning were engaged in scientific research.
